CUSTOM & PERFORMANCE WORK
Custom, performance, and modification work differs from standard vehicle repair and maintenance. Aftermarket components, increased power levels, tuning, fabrication, and modifications may affect vehicle reliability, drivability, emissions, component life, and manufacturer warranty coverage.
This policy explains the additional considerations and terms that apply when Mitchell Motorworks performs custom or performance-related services.
CUSTOM WORK & ESTIMATES
Custom and performance estimates are based on the planned scope of work and the information available when the estimate is prepared. Because modified vehicles and custom projects may involve non-original components, previous modifications, compatibility issues, or conditions that cannot be identified until disassembly, final cost and completion time may vary.
If additional parts, labor, fabrication, repairs, or modifications are required beyond the authorized scope, Mitchell Motorworks will obtain additional authorization when required before proceeding.
Package or project pricing applies only to the parts and services specifically included in the approved estimate. Additional worn, damaged, incompatible, or failed components discovered during the project are not included unless specifically stated.
AFTERMARKET & PERFORMANCE COMPONENTS
Aftermarket and performance components may differ from original equipment in design, fitment, noise, vibration, operating characteristics, service life, and maintenance requirements.
Mitchell Motorworks will use reasonable professional judgment when selecting or recommending components, but cannot guarantee that aftermarket components will perform, fit, or operate identically to original equipment.
Some modifications may increase stress on engines, transmissions, driveline components, cooling systems, brakes, suspension, tires, or other vehicle systems. Failure of an existing or unrelated component resulting from increased power, altered vehicle operation, or other effects of a modification is not considered a defect in Mitchell Motorworks' workmanship.
CUSTOMER-REQUESTED & CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED COMPONENTS
Mitchell Motorworks generally supplies the parts used in our repairs. Customer-supplied components may be considered for certain custom or performance projects only when approved by Mitchell Motorworks in advance.
Customer-supplied components must be appropriate for the application and in suitable condition for installation. Mitchell Motorworks reserves the right to decline installation of any component we determine to be incorrect, damaged, incomplete, unsafe, incompatible, or inappropriate for the intended application.
Customer-supplied parts are not covered by Mitchell Motorworks' parts warranty. Labor associated with diagnosis, removal, replacement, or correction of a failed, defective, or incompatible customer-supplied component is billable to the customer.
Additional labor required because of missing hardware, incorrect fitment, modification, fabrication, or other issues involving customer-supplied components may result in additional charges.
TUNING & PERFORMANCE RESULTS
Tuning, calibration, and performance modifications may be performed by Mitchell Motorworks or coordinated with a qualified third-party provider depending on the project.
Horsepower, torque, fuel economy, track performance, sound, drivability, or other specific performance results are not guaranteed unless expressly stated in writing. Results may vary based on vehicle condition, existing modifications, fuel quality, environmental conditions, component selection, and other factors.
Dyno tuning or third-party tuning services are also subject to the terms and limitations of the provider performing those services.
RELIABILITY & MECHANICAL RISK
Custom and performance modifications may alter the vehicle beyond its original design and can increase stress, heat, load, or wear on existing components. Increased power or altered vehicle operation may reduce the service life of engines, transmissions, driveline components, cooling systems, brakes, suspension, tires, and other vehicle systems.
Mitchell Motorworks cannot guarantee the future reliability or service life of a modified vehicle or of components not included in the authorized work.
Pre-existing wear, previous modifications, improper prior repairs, or weaknesses in existing components may become apparent during or after performance modifications. Failure of an unrelated or pre-existing component does not by itself indicate a defect in the parts or workmanship provided by Mitchell Motorworks.
EMISSIONS & LEGAL COMPLIANCE
Customers are responsible for informing Mitchell Motorworks of the intended use of a custom or performance vehicle. Mitchell Motorworks reserves the right to decline any modification or service that we determine may violate applicable federal, state, or local requirements or that we are otherwise unwilling or unable to perform.
Emissions-control and safety-related systems will not be removed, disabled, bypassed, or modified when doing so would violate applicable law.
Certain aftermarket components may be designated by their manufacturer for competition or off-road use only. Installation or use of such components is subject to applicable law and Mitchell Motorworks' approval.
RACING & COMPETITION USE
Motorsports, racing, drag racing, autocross, track events, competitive driving, and similar activities place substantially greater stress on a vehicle than normal street operation and involve risks that cannot be controlled by Mitchell Motorworks.
Unless specifically agreed to in writing, Mitchell Motorworks does not warrant a vehicle's suitability for racing or competition and does not guarantee that any modification will prevent component failure during such use.
Damage or failure caused by racing, competition, abuse, over-revving, excessive heat, improper fuel, improper operation, or operation beyond the capabilities of the vehicle or installed components is not covered by Mitchell Motorworks' standard warranty.
WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR CUSTOM & PERFORMANCE WORK
Mitchell Motorworks warrants the workmanship we perform on custom and performance projects for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first, unless different warranty terms are specifically stated on the repair order or invoice.
This workmanship warranty applies to the installation and services performed by Mitchell Motorworks. It does not guarantee the performance, reliability, compatibility, or service life of aftermarket components, customer-supplied parts, existing vehicle components, or the vehicle as a whole.
Aftermarket and performance parts are subject to the warranty, if any, provided by their manufacturer or supplier. Customer-supplied components carry no Mitchell Motorworks parts warranty.
Warranty coverage does not apply to failures caused by tuning performed or altered by others, racing or competition use, abuse, improper operation, use of improper fuel or fluids, exceeding component limitations, subsequent modifications, or failure of unrelated components.
If a covered workmanship concern is suspected, Mitchell Motorworks must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the vehicle and determine the cause before repairs or modifications are performed elsewhere.
PROJECT COMPLETION & FUTURE MODIFICATIONS
Custom and performance projects are evaluated based on the vehicle configuration and condition present when the work is performed. Future modifications, tuning changes, component changes, or repairs performed by others may affect vehicle operation and warranty coverage.
Mitchell Motorworks is not responsible for problems resulting from subsequent modifications or changes made after the vehicle leaves our facility.
